Miss USA 2015 Visits Senior Star at Weber Place to Spotlight Issues Affecting Women and Senior Adults

ROMEOVILLE, IL (June 7, 2016) - Senior Star at Weber Place is thrilled to host Olivia Jordan, Miss USA 2015, for an enlightening presentation open to the public from 2 to 3 p.m. on Thursday, June 23 at 605 South Edward Drive, Romeoville.

Jordan's appearance will focus on subjects that have a broad audience from her far-reaching perspective as a daughter, advocate, woman and Miss USA 2015. Her activism for women's issues during her reign as Miss USA provided countless opportunities to share her experiences with a proactive voice. Jordan will lead a thought-provoking discussion on women's empowerment and the importance of advocating for women's health including vital topics such as ovarian cancer and Alzheimer's. With her warm demeanor, keen focus and tremendous passion, people of all ages have been inspired and engaged by her presentations throughout the country

Growing up in a home environment that encouraged an advocacy and philanthropic mindset, Jordan observed and learned how the power of a voice can positively impact critical issues like the fight against Alzheimer's, a cause where her family name is widely recognized. Her father, Robert Thomas, is co-founder and co-owner of 14 Senior Star senior living communities in the United States, many of which provide innovative, best practice and award-winning programs for those who suffer from Alzheimer's. The organization's remarkable Alzheimer's initiative placed them number three nationally in fundraising for the 2015 Walk to End Alzheimer's®, raising more than $500,000 with only a little more than 1,200 employees. Equally impressive, Thomas placed number two nationally in individual fundraising totals. The meaning behind these statistics demonstrates the Thomas' commitment to the Alzheimer's initiative and is a foundation for Jordan's ongoing, inspirational messaging and steadfastness to make a difference and share a voice.

"Some people would flat-out say that at my age, I should be focused on getting married and having babies," Jordan said in a recent article in disruptionmag.com recounting public reaction to her being the oldest woman to ever win the title at age 26. "And in a lot of ways that affected me - it hurt. But it was worth the pain to be put in a position where, as a public figure, I could start a disruption around our society's views on women. If I could leave one legacy from my time as Miss USA, it would be an end to the idea that females have expiration dates on their dreams."

Seating is limited and registration is required. Visit seniorstar.com/oliviajordan to RSVP no later than June 22.
