Local fare
Nibble your way through the annual Taste of Wheaton, which features food vendors, a beer garden, arts and crafts, carnival rides, children's games, entertainment and more at various locations centered around Memorial Park, 208 W. Union Ave., Wheaton. No admission charge, though prices vary for rides and other activities. Musical mayhem
Journey off to the wacky world of “Spamalot,” the award-winning musical by Eric Idle and John Du Prez “lovingly ripped off” from the 1975 film “Monty Python and the Holy Grail.” BrightSide Theatre revives the comic tale of King Arthur and his knights who encounter killer rabbits, flying cows, a rude Frenchman and a bevy of showgirls in a search for the Holy Grail. Sounds and suds
Enjoy plenty of brews and music at the Two Brothers Summer Festival 2016, which features the bands Cold War Kids, Lord Huron, The Lone Bellow, Phox and more. The festival is at RiverEdge Park, 360 N. Check out the work of more than 100 juried artists from around the world at the Buffalo Grove Fine Art Festival in Buffalo Grove Town Center, at Lake-Cook Road and Route 83, Buffalo Grove. Street fest
See street performers while checking out local food, craft vendors, beer from Crystal Lake Brewing and performances by the bands LAVA Rock and Modern Day Romeos at the Williams Street Festival.
