Location changed for meeting on Des Plaines senior apartments

Des Plaines Alderman Denise Rodd is moving the location of her upcoming 3rd Ward meeting to the Des Plaines Public Library because of an expected large crowd that will hear about plans for senior apartments.

At the meeting next Wednesday, a representative of Pontarelli Cos. is expected to present plans for a four-story, 80,000-square-foot apartment building for those age 62 and older. It would be built on the site of the shuttered Era Tool & Manufacturing Co. building on North Avenue between Second and Third avenues.

Rodd originally scheduled the meeting for the Prairie Lakes Community Center, but decided to move it to Meeting Room B of the library, 1501 Ellinwood St., to allow for more room. The meeting begins at 7 p.m.
