New Burger King partnering with Hoffman Estates charities, hospital
The new Burger King at the southeast corner of Barrington and Higgins roads in Hoffman Estates is partnering with three local youth-oriented organizations to raise funds.
The restaurant will donate 10 percent of its proceeds to the Hoffman Estates High School Loyal Parents if patrons mention "Hawk Pride" when they order.
Similarly, the Burger King will contribute 10 percent to the Hoffman Estates Park District Foundation if customers use the phrase "Friends of the HE Parks" or 15 percent to St. Alexius Women and Children's Hospital if patrons say, "St. Alexius Kids."
Laurie Roscoe, director of operations for Gill Management, which runs the Burger King, said the donation opportunities will be ongoing with no end-date specified.
But for its special grand opening celebration Friday through Sunday, the Burger King will be offering Whopper sandwiches for $2, along with live music and a chance to meet The King. The restaurant also will have raffles for mountain bikes and tickets to Chicago White Sox and Schaumburg Boomers baseball games.
The new location features a state-of-the-art kitchen and a dining area with an 80-inch video screen that celebrates the histories of both Hoffman Estates and Burger King.
Gill Management is led by William Gill, a lifelong resident of the Northwest suburbs.
Though the restaurant first opened during the winter, the grand opening is being celebrated now when more people are out and about, Roscoe said.
