Gino's East to replace Rosie's River Edge Tavern in Rosemont

After less than a year in business, Rosie's River Edge Tavern on the first floor of Rosemont's village hall has shut its doors.

It will be replaced next month by a Gino's East pizzeria, village officials say.

The village will give Rosie's owner, Ala Carte Entertainment, $450,000 to buy out its lease in the village-owned office building at 9501 W. Devon Ave. The village then will sign a new lease and charge higher rent to Gino's East, which is moving from its current location about a mile away at 8725 W. Higgins Road in Chicago, according to Mayor Brad Stephens.

Stephens said Gino's East was looking to relocate, so he suggested the village hall spot, which may not have been ideal for Rosie's.

"I thought about it and approached (Ala Carte), 'This is a great use in our building and I don't know that a bar in the police department (building) works anymore,'" he said.

Gino's is targeted for opening July 1. And already in the works for nearly two years, Ala Carte is still planning to open a strip mall Moretti's restaurant at 9515-9519 W. Higgins Road.
