Get hands-on learning at CLC Summer Explore Camps

Explore Camp, presented by the College of Lake County, offers weeklong, interactive courses on everything from archery to lasers to Greek mythology.

The courses, which run during June and July, take place at three locations: the Grayslake Campus, 19351 W. Washington St.; the Southlake Campus, 1120 S. Milwaukee Ave. in Vernon Hills; and the Lake County High Schools Technology Campus, 19525 W. Washington St. in Grayslake.

Choose among morning or afternoon sessions. Each of the courses is designed for a specific age group. The schedule includes the following:

• June 13-16: Seven courses including Lego Vehicles in Motion for grades 1-4 and Advance Your Grammar for grades 6-8.

• June 20-23: Six courses include STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) for grades 3-5 and Light and Lasers: No Limits! for grades 9-12.

• June 27-30: Five courses including Mini Games and Movies Using Minecraft for grades 5-6 and web design for grades 7-9.

• July 11-14: Five courses including web design for grades 4-6 and Makerspace Camp that allows students in grades 7 to 9 to design and make their own inventions or art from wood, metal or plastic.

• July 18-21: Four courses including MathArt for grades 3-5 and basic digital photography for grades 6-10.

• July 25-28: Four courses including archery and Academic Acceleration (building studying and test-taking skills) for grades 9-12.
