Streamwood shooting believed to be 'unintentional'

Police say the shooting of a woman in Streamwood on Saturday is believed to be unintentional.

The woman was taken to a hospital Saturday after she was shot by a 16-year-old boy about 7 p.m. in a home on Redwood Court, north of Route 19 and west of Barrington Road, in the Meadows subdivision.

The boy's family lives in the Redwood Court home, and the woman was not a resident of the home, said Deputy Chief Daryl Syre.

“The victim stated the shooting was unintentional,” Syre said.

The woman's injuries were not life-threatening, Syre said.

Police are still working to locate and speak with the 16-year-old, and are not releasing his name because he is a juvenile.
