Enjoy country evenings at Kline Creek Farm

Bring a picnic dinner and enjoy music, games and activities this summer at weekly Evenings in the Country at Kline Creek Farm.

The events run 5 to 8 p.m. Thursdays, June 2 through Aug. 18, at the farm, 1N600 County Farm Road, West Chicago.

Highlights this year include the return of the Blind Squirrel String Band for an evening of country dancing, a concert by the Old Town School of Folk Music Dulcimer Ensemble, and an engaging show drawn from music and theater from the early years of the Temperance movement.

Admission to this all-ages program is free; wagon rides are $5 per person for ages 5 and older and free for younger children. Adults must accompany children younger than 13. Registration is not required. For information, call Kline Creek Farm at (630) 876-5900.

"These special evening gatherings are a great opportunity for families to enjoy being outdoors together while getting a taste of life on a farm in the 1890s," said Joe Cantore, president of the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County.

"What better way to connect with nature than through an old-fashioned picnic," said Forest Preserve District Commissioner Al Murphy, District 6. "Visitors also get to experience DuPage County - past and present - through fun entertainment, games and activities."
