Cougars complete third straight comeback win
In yet another comeback effort, the Cougars (25-25) scored 3 runs in the eighth inning to best the Beloit Snappers (24-26), 5-4. The Cougars won three of four to complete the home series.
Cougars' infielder Jeff Smith had 2 hits, including a 2-run home run, as Josh Anderson rapped 3 hits and 2 RBI in another punctual effort offensively for the Cougars.
On a great Memorial Day for baseball, this game emerged first as a pitcher's duel between two polished starters, Kevin Johnson (0-0) of Beloit against the Cougars' Justin Donatella (5-3).
For the third game in a row, the Snappers shot off to an early 1-0 lead on a home run. This one was hit in the third inning by Edwin Diaz off the scoreboard. It was Donatella's first professional home run allowed in his second professional season.
The lead for Beloit did not last long as the Cougars plated two in the fifth inning. Keeping with this home run heavy series, Smith belted a 2-run shot to deep left field, the first home run in his professional career.
