Learn about 'World of Colonel Fabyan' at June 4 program

Visit Fabyan Forest Preserve from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 4, to learn about its fascinating history, during the "Sense of Place" program series, offered by the Forest Preserve District of Kane County.

A Dutch windmill, a Japanese tea garden, a Frank Lloyd Wright house, a bear cage, an alligator pool - what more can you ask for in an estate-turned-forest-preserve? Learn about the Fabyans' Riverbank estate and its origins, during this docent-led tour.

The program will weave the story of George and Nelle Fabyan, the estate, the architecture, and the Fabyans' love of the exotic.

They also will discuss Fabyans' place in the events of the early 20th century. The tour will include a walk through the villa, as well as a stroll in the tranquil Japanese Garden.

Advance registration is required. Learn from the Experts programs will be for ages 18 and older. The registration fee is $10 per person. Call (630) 444-3190 or email programs@kaneforest.com to register.
