Beltran has shoulder tightness; Ackley could be put on DL

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) - New York Yankees right fielder Carlos Beltran missed Sunday against the Tampa Bay Rays because of right shoulder tightness, and infielder Dustin Ackley could be headed to the disabled list.

Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira didn't start for the fifth consecutive game because of neck stiffness but entered in the seventh as a defensive replacement for Ackley, who jammed his right shoulder one inning earlier diving into first base.

Ackley was to have an MRI, and manager Joe Girardi said he expects Ackley to go the disabled list.

"I'm hoping for the best," Ackley said.

Teixeira had a cortisone shot Thursday, which he saidmade a "night and day difference. He plans to start Monday night at Toronto.

"I'm in there now, definitely," Teixeira said. "I feel ready."

Beltran was hurt Saturday on a checked swing.

"A little sore, but I'm good," Beltran said. "I saw the doctor yesterday and he said that it should go away in a couple days, so I'm not worried."
