Anderson, Mellouli win freestyles at Speedo Grand Challenge

IRVINE, Calif. (AP) - American Haley Anderson and Ous Mellouli of Tunisia won distance freestyle titles Sunday night at the Speedo Grand Challenge.

Anderson won the 800-meter free in 8 minutes, 37.93 seconds to go with the 400 free she won Friday at William Woollett Aquatic Center.

Mellouli, who trains in Los Angeles, won the 1,500 free in 15:13.87. He won event at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and earned a bronze four years later in London.

National team member Katie McLaughlin won the 200 butterfly in 2:11.35. Anderson finished third in the tune-up meet for next month's U.S. Olympic swimming trials.

Kendyl Stewart, another national team member, won the 100 free in 55.89 seconds. Stewart won the 50 free Friday and 100 fly Saturday.

Kirsten Vose, who won the 200 individual medley Friday, was second in the 100 free after earlier taking second in the 200 breaststroke. Jessica Hardy finished eighth overall in the 100 free after failing to advance to the four-woman "A'' flight of the fastest swimmers.
