Girl hit by truck in Gages Lake still in critical
A 12-year-old girl hit by a pickup truck Friday afternoon in Gages Lake was in critical but stable condition Saturday, according to the Lake County sheriff's office.
According to witnesses, the girl crossed against the traffic light on Gages Lake Road at Almond Road about 2:40 p.m. and was struck by a Chevrolet pickup truck traveling east on Gages Lake, police said. The driver was unable to avoid hitting her, police said.
The girl was first taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville then flown to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where she remained Saturday. No tickets have been issued. The Lake County Sheriff's Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit is investigating.
