ROOKIE DEBUT

Julio Urias will make his major league debut for the Dodgers in the weekend series opener in New York against the Mets. The highly touted 19-year-old left-hander was 4-1 with a 1.10 ERA at Triple-A Oklahoma City, where he had a 27-inning scoreless streak and 44 strikeouts in 41 innings. Urias will replace lefty Alex Wood, who was scratched with triceps soreness.

STREAKING

Boston's Xander Bogaerts takes a 19-game hitting streak into the opener of the weekend series at Toronto. Bogaerts has the longest active streak in the majors after Red Sox teammate Jackie Bradley Jr. had his 29-game streak snapped Thursday night.

ALSO STREAKING

Cole Hamels looks to win his 13th straight decision in the regular season in the opener of Texas's weekend series against Pittsburgh. The veteran left-hander is 12-0 with a 2.99 ERA in his last 18 regular season starts. He is also 7-0 with a 3.87 ERA over 13 career outings in the Rangers' ballpark.

HOME WOES

Coming off a three-game sweep by Milwaukee, the Atlanta Braves take a major league-worst 2-20 home record into the series opener against Miami. RHP Williams Perez (2-1, 3.86 ERA) starts for the Braves against the Marlins' Adam Conley (3-3, 4.15).

SCHERZER'S STRIKEOUTS

Washington's Max Scherzer makes his sixth start of May after striking out at least seven in each of his first five outings this month. He has totaled 54 Ks in 35 1/3 innings over that stretch - including tying the major league mark with 20 against Detroit on May 11. Scherzer, who faces the Cardinals for the second time this month, struck out nine over seven innings in a 6-1 win at St. Louis on May 1.
