Lombard driver services facility temporarily closed

The Lombard driver services facility is temporarily closed due to problems with the building's heating and air conditioning systems.

The interior of the building, at 837 S. Westmore-Meyers Road, started getting very warm on Wednesday, with temperatures reaching about 90 degrees, said Secretary of State spokesman David Druker.

"We felt it was unsafe to have the public or our employees in there for an extended period of time," he said.

A news release issued by the village of Lombard stated that the facility will be closed for a week or more and will reopen when repairs are complete.

"We're sorry for any inconvenience it causes and we hope we can get it open as soon as possible," Druker said.

The nearest location for all driver and vehicle services is located in Naperville at 931 W. 75th St.

Limited services are also available at 128 W. Liberty Drive in Wheaton, 1903 N. Mannheim Road in Melrose Park, 1280 Powis Road in West Chicago and 1227 E. Golf Road in Schaumburg.

Updates on the reopening of the facility will be posted on the Secretary of State's website, at cyberdriveillinois.com.
