Graduation party requires backyard upgrade

We're having our daughter's high school graduation party in June. We want a space to cook with a gas-line grill so we don't have to worry about running out of propane; a buffet table to serve food; seating around a table, a fire pit and TV to watch sporting events (add electrical); upgraded landscaping; more even lawn (we had a tree removed last year) to play games. We're lacking character with so many functions in a small space. We have a basketball net, garden, storage shed and firewood storage in the back, which looks cluttered and needs to be upgraded. We have one light now. We would love to have better, even softer lighting to sit in the evening.

Budget: $10,000

The Krinningers have the beginning of something great in their backyard. There is a lot of activity going on and they could benefit from a little separation of space. Adding a pergola over the dining space would divide the space and give some nice shade. This would also create an area to hang both the exterior TV and chandelier over the table.

Suggestions:

• Exterior chandeliers are rated to withstand the exterior elements and can create the feeling of an extra room outside your home. Savoy House has a collection of exterior chandeliers for every style.

• Update the exterior light by the sliding door to coordinate with the new pieces and add LED bulbs for longevity and energy efficiency. Elk's Manor collection is a simple traditional look.

• Add an LED double spot to light up the basketball/game area. WAC makes a few nice adjustable ones in white that will blend in with the brick work.

• Padma Plantation makes a nice rectangular metal dining set that would look fantastic with this setup.

• Complete the dining space with a nice simple exterior rug like Surya's Portera Exterior rug.
