Voter suppression no problem for Republicans

What a surprise! Republicans don't like automatic voter registration when obtaining and/or renewing their driver's licenses.

Sen. Oberweis was quoted as saying that he has heard that busloads of people are being driven from precinct to precinct and voting multiple times. Oberweis should stop reading comic books or switch to a brand of cigarettes that have tax stamps on the packages.

I'm surprised Republicans haven't tried to stop offering registration when new citizens are sworn in.

While it is true that Republicans have rarely met a voter suppression measure they didn't like, they do have a point that if more young, women and minorities voted it is unlikely that Republicans ever would ever be elected.

Oberweis wants the registration measure to include a photo ID provision. Excuse me, but don't driver's licenses have a photo on them?

A typical Republican-sponsored ID law allows gun holder IDs but disallows school IDs. Is that what you had in mind Sen. Oberweis?
