Cirque Italia comes to Gurnee Mills

Submitted by Gurnee Mills

Cirque Italia, a one-of-a-kind European circus set on a 35,000-gallon water stage, will pitch its through Monday, May 30, in Gurnee Mills' parking lot G. Upcoming performances are set for 2:30, 5:30 and 8:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, May 28 and 29; and 2:30 and 5:30 p.m. Monday, May 30.

Particular to Cirque Italia, rarely-seen Italian circus acts are set against a 35-foot-high curtain of glistening rain and fountains that dazzle below. New performances will include a contortionist; a singer who stacks chair upon chair, and then balances on top of them on his hands; a clown who plunges off the diving board during an acrobatic trampoline excursion; and the Laserman Act that will cause explosions and scare away a large dinosaur. The animal-free show also includes high-wire feats, juggling, elegant aerialists and the opportunity to take a picture with a mermaid.

Tickets, for the newly revamped show, are available online at cirqueitalia.com, by phone, (941) 704-8572, and from the box office adjacent to the white and blue tent outside Gurnee Mills' Burlington Coat Factory. Tickets range from $10 to $50. Purchasers receive one free child's ticket (age 12 or younger) for every adult ticket purchased on tent levels 2 or 3.
