Pizza delivery drivers robbed at gunpoint in Waukegan

Waukegan police are investigating a pair of armed robberies of pizza delivery drivers Wednesday night and early Thursday morning.

The first occurred about 8 p.m. Wednesday, when a delivery driver sent to the 4100 block of Continental Drive was approached by two black males in their late teens, according to police. One of the teens drew a handgun and the robbers stole the driver's money and pizza, police said. The driver was not injured.

The robbers were both described as being about 5'4" and slim. One was wearing a red track jacket, white Nike shorts and had acne on his cheeks. The other was wearing a black and gold sweatshirt with a Chicago Bulls emblem in gold on it and light blue jeans, police said.

The second holdup was reported at about midnight Thursday, after a driver was sent to the 200 block of South Park Avenue to make a delivery. The driver told police he was approached by a black male and three Hispanic males wearing ski masks. One pulled a handgun and the robbers took the driver's money, pizza, and personal property. He was not injured.

The robberies are being investigated as separate incidents, but all options are being left open, police said. The drivers worked for different pizza restaurants.
