Registration is free to car owners and begins at 8:30 a.m. More than 100 cars competed in the show last year. Disc jockey, food booths, a bouncy house, face painting and balloon making for kids. Sept. 11: 30th annual British Car Festival, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at Harper College, 1200 W. Algonquin Road, Palatine. More than 20 British car clubs, 500 automobiles, authentic British food, Irish dancers, music, technical learning sessions, car merchandise giveaways, classic car parts vendors and new car dealers showcasing the latest imports from Great Britain. For the first time, this year's festival will include valve cover racing, a gravity propelled competition using modified automobile engine valve covers on wheels.
