20th Century Club raises $9,000 at Kentucky Derby Themed Benefit

The 20th Century Club and Foundation of Park Ridge recently held its annual benefit luncheon and promenade at the Cafe LaCave restaurant in Des Plaines. This year, the theme of the benefit was "Kentucky Derby," complete with mint juleps, and attendees arrived in their most fashionable hats. Entertainment was provided by the cast of Maine South's production of the musical "Big Fish," and the Maine South Vocal Jazz Ensemble.

Through the participation and generosity of more than 180 club members over $9,000 was raised to benefit the following recipients:

The Rainbow Hospice, $4,000,

Seven scholarships to Maine South H.S. seniors, $ 4,000,

Maine South H.S. Fine Arts Department, $1,000, and

Five Maine East H.S. students to receive four years of Internet, $500.

The 20th Century Club and Foundation is proud to continue its long (104 years) tradition of community philanthropy.
