Baseball: Afternoon storms delay baseball playoffs
Wednesday's storms delayed a heavy dose of high school baseball playoff games.
In most cases involving teams from the Mid-Suburban League along with Maine West, Leyden and St. Viator, regional semifinal games have rescheduled for one day later than the original slate called for.
• At Barrington, Prairie Ridge was leading Larkin 2-0 in the first inning Wednesday when play was suspended. That game has been scheduled to resume at 4 p.m. Thursday. The other semifinal, featuring the host Broncos vs. Dundee-Crown, has been moved to 4 p.m. Friday.
• at Maine West, Elk Grove had a 1-0 lead against Leyden in the second inning. That game will resume at 4 p.m. Thursday. The other semifinal features the host Warriors against Loyola; it's been moved to a 4 p.m. Friday start.
• at Warren, the host Blue Devils were leading Hersey 2-1 in the second inning. That game will resume at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, with Fremd vs. Deerfield rescheduled for 4:30 p.m. Friday.
• at Hoffman Estates, St. Charles North vs. Glenbard North has been slated for 3 p.m. Thursday, with South Elgin vs. Wheaton North rescheduled for 3 p.m. Friday.
• at Glenbrook North, Buffalo Grove and the host Spartans were in the first inning when play was suspended. They'll try again at 4:30 p.m. Thursday. Prospect vs. Lake Zurich has been rescheduled for 4:30 p.m. Friday.
• at Palatine, Stevenson vs. Glenbrook South will try again at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, with Palatine vs. Lake Forest rescheduled for 4:30 p.m. Friday.
• at Lake Park, Rolling Meadows vs. the host Lancers has been rescheduled for 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Lake Park's West Campus.
• at Glenbard West, the host Hilltoppers vs. Glenbard East will start at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, with Conant vs. Batavia to follow under the lights at the Village Green facility on Lambert Road.
• In Class 3A, St. Viator's playoff opener against regional host Marian Central was suspended with the Lions leading 1-0. That game will resume at 4 p.m. Thursday, with Antioch vs. Woodstock North pushed to 4 p.m. Friday.
