Kentucky hires Hall of Famer Lin Dunn as an assistant coach

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - Kentucky coach Matthew Mitchell has hired Hall of Fame coach Lin Dunn, completing an overhaul of his staff after the departures of several assistants since the end of last season.

Dunn, who has 660 career victories and led the Indiana Fever to the 2012 WNBA championship, was inducted into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in 2014. She won 447 over a 25-year college career with stops at Austin Peay, Miami, Mississippi and Purdue. Dunn, 69, was also an assistant on the bronze medal-winning 1992 women's USA Olympic team.

Mitchell says he's excited to work with Dunn and added in a release Tuesday that she's "one of my greatest mentors and dearest friends." Dunn says she looks forward to working with Mitchell, saying it's an opportunity she "couldn't pass up."
