Brookfield Zoo's Festival of Flight: 10 a.m. Saturday, May 28, at Brookfield Zoo, 3300 Golf Road, Brookfield. Brookfield Zoo's bird show, Festival of Flight, begins Memorial Day weekend and runs through Monday, Sept. 5. See birds demonstrate their natural flight abilities during this interactive experience. Arlington Heights Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony: 97th annual parade steps off at 9:30 a.m. Monday, May 30, from Village Hall, 33 S. Arlington Heights Road; heads west on Sigwalt to Dunton, then north on Dunton to Euclid, west on Euclid to Chestnut and south to Memorial Park. Libertyville Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony: Parade begins at 9:30 a.m. Monday, May 30, from the Metra train station on Lake Street, and proceeds south on Milwaukee Avenue to Cook Park for a ceremony and speakers. An observance follows at Lakeside Cemetery on Lake Street. Free. libertyville.com.

Round Lake Area Memorial Day Ceremony and Parade: Opening ceremony at 9:30 a.m. Monday, May 30, at the American Legion in Round Lake Park; parade begins at 10 a.m. in front of the American Legion; 10:30 a.m. ceremony during the parade; the parade ends at 11 a.m. with a closing ceremony at Village of Round Lake Beach Memorial. Algonquin Memorial Day Parade: 10 a.m. Monday, May 30. American Legion Post 1231 parade begins near the veterans' monument at the Algonquin Cemetery, proceeds south down North Main Street to Front Street, and then ends at Riverfront Park. algonquin.org.

Bartlett Memorial Day Walk and Remembrance: 10 a.m. Monday, May 30, at Bartlett Park, Oak and North avenues. American Legion flag retirement ceremony. Memorial Walk to Bartlett Cemetery steps off at 11 a.m., followed by a short program honoring Bartlett's heroes. village.bartlett.il.us.

Elburn Memorial Day Procession: 10 a.m. Monday, May 30, at the north end of Blackberry Township cemetery, Route 47 and Keslinger Road, ends at Blackberry Township Cemetery. Hoffman Estates/Schaumburg Memorial Day: 10 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. Monday, May 30. Memorial observance starts at 10 a.m. at the Veterans Memorial outside the Hoffman Estates Police Department, 411 W. Higgins Road. Guests are invited to go to historic St. Peter Lutheran Church, 202 E. Schaumburg Road, Schaumburg, for a 10:45 a.m. ceremony hosted by Schaumburg Mayor Al Larson and Hoffman Estates Mayor Bill McLeod. Lindenhurst Memorial Day Ceremony: 10 a.m. Monday, May 30, at the Veterans Memorial at the entrance to Lindenhurst Village Hall, 2301 E. Sand Lake Road, Lindenhurst. Mundelein Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony: 10 a.m. Monday, May 30, at the Metra train station, 205 N. Archer Ave., Mundelein. The American Legion Post #867 and the village of Mundelein invite all veterans to participate. Parade forms at 9:15 a.m. and ends at Memorial Park, where the mayor will speak. All veterans in the parade have the option of riding in an open vehicle, which must be provided by the participant, or in the trolley. Palatine Memorial Day Ceremony and Parade: 10 a.m. Monday, May 30, at Community Park, Palatine and Oak, Palatine. Starts with a 10 a.m. service at Hillside Cemetery on Smith Street in Palatine. Parade starts at 10:15 a.m. from Cornell Avenue and Smith Street. Goes north on Smith, east on Robertson, south on Brockway and then east on Wood to the Veterans Memorial in Community Park. Short program at 11 a.m. at the Veterans Memorial. Another ceremony follows at 12:15 p.m. at the Legion Memorial in Towne Square, 150 W. Palatine Road. Lake Zurich Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony: 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 30, at Main Street and Old Rand Road, Lake Zurich. Parade features the Lake Zurich High School band and youth organizations stepping off from Main Street. Naperville Memorial Day Parade: 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 30, at Jackson Avenue and West Street, Naperville. Proceeds east to Washington Street, north to Benton and east to the SS.
