Palatine Book Drive a Great Success

The recent Lavelle Law Charities Book Drive wrapped up last week with more book donations than organizers could have hoped for.

Using drop-off locations throughout Palatine, Lavelle Law collected thousands of books which were immediately donated to the Union League Boys and Girls Clubs of Chicago.

Attorney Matthew Sheahin, a partner at Lavelle Law and a board member for the clubs expressed his appreciation to the community.

"On behalf of our organization and Lavelle Law, I can't begin to tell you how pleased we are with the amazing support provided by everyone in Palatine," said Sheahin. "These donations will go a long way to providing educational and recreational opportunities to boys and girls of all ages."

Book Drive Coordinator Jackie Lindert said the donations filled an entire truck and thanked those who hosted drop-off sites including Birchwood Recreation Center, Buehler YMCA, and Eurofresh Market. She acknowledged the Palatine Library for their contribution and a mentioned a sizable donation which came from Half-Price Books. In addition, students and families at the Stuart R. Paddock School held a drive at their school on behalf of the initiative. Lindert noted the exceptional contributions of the Saint Theresa School library and staff, along with donations from families at the school. "All in all it was a tremendous showing of support by individuals, families and organizations across Palatine," she said.

Also recognized were individuals who held their own neighborhood drives, in some cases collecting more than 100 books for the project.

"We're very pleased to make these donations to the Union League Boys and Girls Clubs of Chicago on behalf of all of our neighbors," said Lindert.
