Volunteers needed for Marklund baseball

Baseball season has arrived at Marklund - and so has a fun and meaningful volunteer experience.

During the months of June, July and August, individuals age 14 and older have the opportunity to assist Marklund clients in playing evening baseball games at Marklund's Miracle League Field in Geneva.

Marklund welcomes individuals as well as members of youth sports teams, church groups, corporate/office groups, Scout troops, and others who'd like to get involved.

Volunteers work one-on-one with clients helping them at bat, pushing players' wheelchairs around the bases, assisting them in fielding the ball, or simply cheering during games.

Eighteen volunteers are needed per baseball game. No training is needed to volunteer.

"Baseball remains a favorite activity, not just for our clients but also our volunteers," said Cathy Nikrandt, volunteer manager. "It is a way for the community to get involved and befriend Marklund clients."
