Baseball: Glenbard East, West Chicago, Metea Valley

Glenbard East 11, Geneva 4:

The Rams (25-8, 18-3) clinched the Upstate Eight Valley championship outright with the road victory. Michael Sebby and Jake Heyman each went 2-for-3 with 2 runs scored. Joey Moore drove in a pair of runs. Brett Tomlinson pitched into the fifth inning to earn the win.

West Chicago 7, Elgin 0:

Complete-game winner Chris Bangert pitched a 3-hitter with 8 strikeouts as the Wildcats (8-20, 6-15) won in the Upstate Eight. Garrett Hosticka went 3-for-4 and scored 4 runs. Josh Bowen had 2 hits and 2 RBI.

Metea Valley 5, Glenbard North 4:

Blake Nicolls won the DuPage Valley Conference game for the Mustangs (19-13, 13-11) by drawing a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the seventh inning. Conner Lovely went 2-for-3 with 2 runs scored. Mitch Reyes was the winning pitcher in relief. Zach Bachara went 3-for-4 while Zack Heck, Neal Shah and Alex Taylor had 2 hits for Glenbard North (8-25, 5-19).

Naperville North 12, WW South 0:

The Huskies (15-14, 13-11) rolled to the five-inning victory in the DuPage Valley Conference, starting the game with a 5-run first inning. Brennan Simek went 3-for-3 and Jack Whitley had 2 hits and 3 RBI. Kyle Cobb pitched a 1-hitter with 4 strikeouts and no walks.

Wheaton Academy 8, Ridgewood 6:

The Warriors (16-13, 12-7) claimed a share of the Metro Suburban West championship with the 10-inning road win. They scored twice in the top of the 10th, taking the lead on Harrison Taylor's RBI double. Winning pitcher Payton Sowa went 3-for-6 with 3 RBI. Taylor and Noah Ritchie also had 3 hits.

Neuqua Valley 2, Glenbard South 0:

Connor Rektorski pitched a 4-hitter with 4 strikeouts and no walks for the Wildcats (20-12) in their nonconference win. James Gargano homered and Eric Nelson and Joe Previti had 2 hits.

Glenbard West 4, Leyden 3:

The Hilltoppers (13-19) won the West Suburban crossover by scoring all their runs in the top of the third inning. Zach Lutz went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Sam Kaske was the winning pitcher and Arno Curtis picked up the save.

Downers North 7, Morton 4:

Trailing into the fourth inning, the Trojans (14-18) tied the game in the fourth and took the lead for good with a 2-run fifth. James Krick and Matt King had 2 hits while Josh Smith drove in 2 runs.
