Sugar Grove patrol officers get raises of up to 3 percent

Police patrol officers in Sugar Grove will receive pay raises of 2.25 to 3 percent annually, under a new four-year contract.

The village board approved the contract with the Illinois Fraternal Order of Police Labor Council Tuesday.

The contract is retroactive to May 1, 2015.

It applies to eight full-time patrol officers.

The first year calls for raises of 3 percent, which will be paid to officers in a lump sum by the end of June.

In the second year of the contract, raises increase 2.25 percent. The rates go up 2.5 percent in the third year and 2.75 percent in the fourth.

An officer's starting pay is $52,035 a year, and top pay after eight years is $75,352. In the last year of the contract, pay will range from $54,803 to $79,360.

The contract also calls for the village to pay for replacing bullet-resistant vests that are more than five years old.
