Summer means outdoor theater is back in Schaumburg

The return of summer means free outdoor entertainment is back in Schaumburg Park District neighborhood's!

The district's popular Street Theater performances return at 7 p.m., Monday, June 6, at Jane Addams Junior High School, 700 S. Springinsguth Road.

The summer series kicks off with "Be Careful What You Wish For." In this delightful comedic collection of folk tales, magical wish givers teach apprentices about wishes gone amiss.

Other performances in this year's lineup include "The Goose That Laid The Golden Egg" and "Aesop's Foibles."

"Street theatre is good family entertainment," said Beth Waller, Cultural Arts supervisor for the Schaumburg Park District.

Performances are at 7 p.m. every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday through July 21 at locations throughout the district including:

• Community Recreation Center, 505 N. Springinsguth Road

• Blackwell School, 345 N. Walnut Lane

• Bock Park, 1223 W. Sharon Lane

• Town Square Amphitheatre, Schaumburg and Roselle Roads

• Meineke Park, 220 E. Weathersfield Way

The week of July 3, shows will take place Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. For a full schedule of dates and locations, visit www.parkfun.com.

"One of the things people love about Street Theatre is that we're really close to the audience," Waller said. "It allows for interaction with the cast."
