Schedule: Friday, Sprint Showdown practice (FS1, 1:30 p.m.), Sprint All-Star Race practice (FS1, 3 p.m.), Sprint Showdown, 7 p.m. (FS1); Saturday, Sprint All-Star Race qualifying (FS1, 7 p.m.), Sprint All-Star Race, 9 p.m. (FS1).

Track: Charlotte Motor Speedway (oval, 1.5 miles).

Race distance: Sprint Showdown, 20 laps (30 miles), 20 laps (30 miles), 10 laps (15 miles), 75 total miles total; Sprint All-Star Race, 50 laps (75 miles), 50 laps (75 miles), 13 laps (19.5 miles), 169.5 total miles.

Last year: Greg Biffle and Clint Bowyer claimed Sprint Showdown wins, and Denny Hamlin held off Kevin Harvick to give Joe Gibbs Racing its first All-Star Race win.

Last week: Matt Kenseth won for the first time in 2016 and for the third time at Dover's "Monster Mile." Kyle Larson was second, less than two-tenths of a second short of his first Sprint Cup victory.

Fast facts: The All-Star format has been tweaked for this year's race. Drivers will run a pair of 50-lap segments with mandatory green-flag pit stops before a 13-lap run culminating in a $1 million prize. ... No driver has ever claimed first in a Sprint Showdown and gone on to win the All-Star event. ... Hamlin will seek to join Davey Allison (1991-92) and Jimmie Johnson (2012-13) as the only drivers to win back-to-back All-Star races.

Last year: Erik Jones led the most laps, but Kasey Kahne led the ones that mattered to pick up the win for JR Motorsports.

Last week: Matt Crafton won for the first time in the Truck series at Dover, holding off Daniel Suarez on a 27-lap, green-flag finish.

Fast facts: Crafton's win put him first in the series standings. Crafton has four wins in five races this season. ... Suarez has been a runner-up six times in NASCAR races but has yet to win one. ... GMS Racing placed three trucks in the top 10 last week, led by Johnny Sauter (fourth).

VERIZON INDYCAR

Last week: Simon Pagenaud continued his domination of the series in 2016, winning the third race in a row at the road course in Indianapolis. Scott Dixon was the last driver to notch three straight IndyCar races back in 2013, and he wound up winning the series title.

Last race: Doug Kalitta won his second Top Fuel race in a row in Atlanta, beating teammate J.R. Todd.

Fast facts: John Force, the 16-time NHRA Funny Car champion, will debut his new 2016 Camaro SS car this weekend. Force's teammates, daughter Courtney Force and Robert Hight, will introduce Camaro SS rides later this season. ... Courtney Force won at Topeka in 2014, marking the 100th win by a female driver in the series.
