Patton Elementary School in Arlington Heights raises money for Make-A-Wish

Students, parents, staff and the Arlington Heights community on Wednesday took part in the ninth annual Patton School walkathon to raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, adding to the $100,000 raised in past years.

The ambassador for this year's walk was Lilly, a student at the school who is undergoing difficult treatments for leukemia, inspiring the Patton community to rally to the effort.

Fundraising has been going on for the last week, with a night when 20 percent of purchases at a local restaurant were donated to the cause, with staff members paying money to dress in the spirit them of the day and with students lining up people to donate for each lap they walked.
