4 people injured when Southwest plane hits turbulence

BOSTON (AP) - Two flight attendants and two passengers have been injured after a Southwest Airlines plane hit severe turbulence on its way from Boston to Chicago.

Southwest officials say Flight 147 circled back to Boston's Logan International Airport on Tuesday, just after midnight, because of the injuries. The plane had been in the air for about an hour.

A spokeswoman for the Massachusetts Port Authority says four people suffered minor injuries. The two passengers declined medical treatment.

Southwest says the injured flight attendants were taken to a hospital for treatment. The airline says no serious injuries were reported.

Southwest says the 133 passengers were diverted to another plane with a different flight crew and landed safely at Chicago Midway International Airport.
