Exchange Club announces May Hometown Hero

The Round Lake Area Exchange Club has named U.S. Army Private First Class Shauna Horst of Round Lake as the May Hometown Hero.

Horst was registered for this honor by family friend Rodney Bleim of Round Lake Beach.

Horst, a 2014 graduate of Round Lake Senior High School, is currently serving in Texas. She is a wheel mechanic and will be home this spring for her brother's graduation.

With the support of this month's sponsor, Collision Solution, Horst's "Hanging with the Heroes" care package will include beef jerky, chocolate chip cookies, Sour Skittles, Kit-Kat candy bars and snacks, a personalized "Hanging with the Heroes" T-shirt donated by Artrageous of Hainesville, a piece of home, and letters from Round Lake Area Unit District 116 students.

The Round Lake Area Exchange Club will present a plaque on her behalf Wednesday, May 25, at the meeting in Round Lake.

The Round Lake Area Exchange Club needs your help in getting our local heroes signed up. Any and all military personnel serving overseas or in the U.S. from any of the Round Lake areas, Hainesville, Fox Lake, Ingleside or surrounding areas qualify for the program. Register your loved ones at www.rlaexchange.org/hero.
