Family Field Day coming to St. James Farm

The DuPage Forest Preserve District will celebrate Family Field Day May 28 at St. James Farm in Warrenville.

The activity-packed event will run from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the farm along Winfield Road, near Butterfield Road.

Visitors can watch horse and riding demonstrations, dog obedience and field trials, sheepherding demonstrations, and raptors from the Northern Illinois Raptor Conservancy.

They also can explore St. James Farm's new 2-mile trail and enjoy pony rides and hay-wagon rides, fishing, archery instruction, food vendors, live music, and a display of vintage tractors with ties to the preserve's agricultural history.

Forest district rangers and St. James Farm staff members and volunteers also will be on hand to answer questions.

Admission and parking are free, but there are small fees for children's activities and wagon rides. For more information, check out the "Family Field Day: Top 10 Things to See and Do" photo gallery, visit dupageforest.org/familyfieldday or call St. James Farm at (630) 580-7025.

St. James Farm is open from one hour after sunrise to one hour after sunset every day of the year.

It formerly housed a dairy farm and agricultural fields. In later years, it served as a world-class equestrian venue.
