Dundee-Crown, Jacobs announce 2016 HOF inductees

The Dundee-Crown and Jacobs athletic halls of fame have announced their induction classes for 2016.

Dundee-Crown will induct five new members to its hall of fame the weekend of Oct. 14.

The new inductees are:

•Juliet Alrich, a 2006 D-C graduate who is being inducted for track and field.

•Gary F. Mueller, a 1973 Irving Crown alum who was a three-sport athlete in football, basketball and baseball.

•Emily Mycek, a 2006 D-C grad who is being inducted for swimming.

•Chris Richter, a 1967 Crown graduate who was a three-sport athlete in football, basketball and baseball.

•Tom Zozokos, a 2006 D-C grad who is being inducted for track and field.

The inductees will be recognized at the Dundee-Crown football game Oct. 14 and the induction ceremony/dinner will be at the Golf Club of Illinois in Algonquin on Oct. 15. Tickets for the dinner and ceremony are $40 each. For more information, contact the D-C athletic office at (224) 484-5100.

Jacobs HOF: The Jacobs High School Athletic Hall of Fame board announced its recently elected Class of 2016: Crenden Keller, former coach, athletic director, assistant athletic director and Maria Tamburrino, student-athlete, graduating class of 2010, and 10 varsity letter winner, participating in girls golf, girls basketball, and girls soccer. The Class of 2016 is scheduled to be announced at halftime at the home football game on Friday, Sept. 16. For more information, please contact jhshof@d300.org

Hit for Henry: Hit for Henry is a tennis clinic and tournament that will be taking place June 10-11 at the Jacobs High School tennis courts. All proceeds will benefit Henry Betts and his fight against Muscular Dystrophy. (Henry is the son of Jon Betts, District 300 Liberty Elementary teacher and Jacobs High School tennis coach.) Any unused funds will be donated to charity. The clinic is for students in grades K-8, beginning high schoolers and adults on June 10. (No previous tennis experience necessary.) *he tournament is for high school and adult tennis players interested in playing for a good cause on June 10-11. West Aurora boys basketball camp: West Aurora will hold boys basketball camps for grades K-5 on June 6-9 from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Cost for the camp is $25. Camp for grades 6-8 will be held on June 20-23 from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Cost for the camp is $35. Both camps will take place at West Aurora High School in the Red Field House.
