Robbers in Halloween masks pistol-whip victims in Waukegan holdups

Men wearing Halloween masks pistol-whipped two victims and stole their belongings in separate robberies over the weekend in the same Waukegan neighborhood, police said.

The first armed robbery occurred at 8:40 p.m. Saturday near the intersection of Longview Road and Lorraine Avenue, authorities said. The victim told police he was approached from behind by two black males, both in black Halloween masks, who struck him over the head with a firearm and took personal property, authorities said.

Officers responded to another call of an armed robbery near the same intersection at 12:30 a.m. Sunday, police said. The second victim said he was approached by a black male standing 6'0” to 6'3” tall and wearing a white Halloween mask, according to police. The masked man struck the victim in the face with a firearm before taking his money and personal property, police said.

The second victim suffered facial injuries that required medical attention, according to police. The first victim did not report any major injuries.
