Beach Park man shot Waukegan woman, then self on Kennedy

A shooting that left two Lake County residents dead early Sunday morning on the Kennedy Expressway has been ruled a murder-suicide, police said Monday.

Investigators said the victims were found about 4 a.m. Sunday in a silver Chevrolet Tahoe stopped in a lane of traffic on northbound I-90 at Armitage Avenue.

The driver, Eric L. Taylor, 43, of Beach Park shot Camille C. Cooley, 36, of Waukegan, who was in the passenger seat, and then turned the gun on himself, according to Illinois State Police. Both gunshot wounds were to the head.

"Based on information obtained through the investigation, this may have been a domestic-related incident that ended on the expressway," state police said in a news release.

Autopsies on both Taylor and Cooley were done by the Cook County medical examiner's office and the shooting remains under investigation.
