Lake Forest artists retreat tours

Ragdale, the nationally acclaimed artists' retreat in Lake Forest, offers monthly docent-led tours Saturdays at 10 a.m. June 11, July 16, Aug. 20 and Sept. 2 for individuals and groups. Admission is $10 per person. Private group tours for 10 or more are scheduled monthly, preferably Fridays at 2 p.m. Recommended tour dates are: May 20, June 10, July 15, Aug. 19, and Sept. 23. Located on the former country estate of Arts and Crafts architect Howard Van Doren Shaw, a Ragdale tour includes: the historic Ragdale House at 1230 North Green Bay Road, visual artist studios, exquisite gardens, an introduction to the Shaw family history and the artists' residency program that serves more than 150 artists and authors each year.
