Marte singles in 7th for Pirates' first hit off Lester

CHICAGO (AP) - Starling Marte has singled with one out in the seventh for Pittsburgh's first hit against Chicago Cubs left-hander Jon Lester.

Marte then stole second and scored on Jung Ho Kang's two-out double, chasing Lester. Kang's hit lifted the Pirates to a 1-0 lead.

The 32-year-old Lester was trying for his second career no-hitter and the second for the Cubs this season.

Lester, then with Boston, threw a no-hitter on May 19, 2008, in a 7-0 win over Kansas City in what his first complete game.

Cubs ace Jake Arrieta no-hit the Cincinnati Reds on April 21 in a 16-0 victory.
