Indiana man driving ATV killed after striking deer

CANNELBURG, Ind. (AP) - Authorities say a southwest Indiana man driving an ATV has struck a deer and been killed.

Indiana conservation officers identified the man as 24-year-old Logan Craney of Cannelburg. They say he was driving the ATV on a county road Friday night when he struck a deer in the roadway, causing the vehicle to overturn. Craney was thrown from the ATV and was pronounced dead on the scene.

Authorities say he was not wearing a helmet or protective equipment.

A news release from the Indiana Department of Natural Resources Law Enforcement Division says alcohol may have been a contributing factor, but the accident is still under investigation.
