Econ Illinois Recognizes Queen of the Rosary Students

Queen of the Rosary School is proud to announce that two 2nd grade students previously recognized as regional winners have been selected as state winners of Dominican University's 2015-16 Econ Illinois Economic Concepts Poster Contest.

On Friday, May 13, the Elk Grove school students and guests assembled to watch Virginia Torelli and Michael Pochron receive medals, monetary awards, and award certificates. Prize Patrol members Debbie Kerman from Northern IL University and Alex Cohen from Country Financial made a special trip to Queen of the Rosary School to make the presentations.

Virgina Torelli is one of the 12 state winners whose poster will be featured in the 2016-2017 Econ Illinois Economic Concepts Calendar. The 12 state winners represented in the calendar were selected from over 30,000 student entries submitted through the regional competitions. In addition to recognizing Virginia for her state winning entry, the Prize Patrol awarded Michael Pochron an Honorable Mention. Additionally, Mrs. Linda Minard was recognized for her work in bringing economics to life in the 2nd grade.

On May 18, a reception for all regional winners, including QR 2nd graders Allison Gogola, Karina Mika, Hayden Nelson, Michael Pochron, Griffin Schlenbecker, Tala Shelton, and Virginia Torelli, is being held at Dominican University.
