Auburn releases contracts of 5 new assistants

AUBURN, Ala. (AP) - New Auburn defensive coordinator Kevin Steele will make at least $3.6 million over the next three years.

Auburn released contract details for Steele and the other four new assistants Friday. Steele, who left the same job at LSU, will receive $1.1 million for his first year plus $100,000 raises in each of the next two.

If Auburn fired him without cause, the school would owe him the remainder of his contract minus whatever he wound up earning in another job.

The other first-year coaches got two-year deals.

Secondary coach Wesley McGriff will make $500,000 a year, followed by offensive line coach Herb Hand at $420,000. Wide receivers coach Kodi Burns will make $350,000 and linebackers coach Travis Williams is getting $225,000.

Burns and Williams are former Auburn players.
