Surgical Care Affiliates names new director

DEERFIELD - Surgical Care Affiliates announced Kenneth R. Goulet will join its board of directors, effective June 1.

Goulet served in a number of roles with Anthem, Inc., a national health benefits company, from 2004 until his retirement last year, including most recently as executive vice president, and president of Anthem's Commercial and Specialty Business. Previously, Goulet spent 23 years at CIGNA Corp., where he held a number of management, sales and operations positions.

"Ken's experience as a senior health plan leader, his knowledge of the overall health system, and his experience working with health plan leaders across the country will strengthen our board and help us advance our strategic partnerships," said SCA Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Andrew Hayek, "We are thrilled that Ken is joining our board, and we look forward to working closely with him."
