DePaul extends its stay for final year in Rosemont

DePaul University has extended its agreement with Rosemont to play its final men's basketball season at the Allstate Arena starting this fall, village officials said.

It's the second time DePaul has asked for a one-year extension to play in Rosemont, amid construction delays on a new $200 million stadium near McCormick Place in Chicago. DePaul and the Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority, which runs McCormick Place, are splitting the cost of the project.

The amended deal with Rosemont cuts DePaul out of a share of sponsorship revenues and the village now won't have to pay for the university's $3,500 athletic dinner at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center.

DePaul has played in Rosemont since 1980, when the stadium was known as the Rosemont Horizon.
