Damaged lines cause power outages in Lombard

Downed power lines on 22nd Street in Lombard caused outages for roughly 1,300 ComEd customers Thursday morning, authorities said.

The lines fell onto the street west of Highland Avenue about 9:45 a.m. It's unclear what caused them to topple, a ComEd spokeswoman said.

Firefighters were called to two nearby office buildings where the power outages caused electrical equipment to malfunction and briefly produce smoke and odor, Lombard Battalion Chief Marty Coomes said.

Power was restored to the area by 12:20 p.m.
