Chicago Bears make Mark Sadowski promotion official

The Bears made official the expected promotion of Mark Sadowski to director of college scouting, succeeding Joe Douglas, who left to become the Philadelphia Eagles' personnel director.

The Bears also announced several other promotions. Area scout Francis Saint Paul is now the Bears' national scout, and David Williams, a pro scout last season, is now the team's West Coast scout.

Jeff King, an NFL tight end for eight years who was a training camp/seasonal scouting intern with the Bears in 2015, has been promoted to pro scout.

Chris White, a scouting assistant last year moves up to pro scouting coordinator.

Sadowski has 19 years of scouting experience, starting with the New Orleans Saints (1998-2005) before joining the Bears in 2005. From 2005-12, Sadowski was the Bears' Southeast area scout, until he was promoted to the team's senior national scout.

Before his scouting career, Sadowksi was a defensive and special teams assistant coach at his alma mater, Tulane, where he played safety for the Green Wave while earning his Bachelor of Science degree in engineering.

A Chicago native, Sadowski played football, baseball and basketball and ran track at St. Rita High School, where he was as an honor student and an all-area football player as a senior.

Saint Paul originally joined the Bears in 2012 as the team's West area scout after coaching for five years at Northern Arizona, where he played wide receiver. He was a sixth-round pick of the St. Louis Rams in 2001 and spent three years in the NFL.

Williams joined the Bears as a scouting assistant in 2012 after one season in the same role with the Kansas City Chiefs. He has served as a pro scout for the Bears the past three seasons. He attended Washington University in St. Louis.

King was drafted in the fifth round by the Carolina Panthers in 2006 (155th overall) out of Virginia Tech where he played football and basketball. He spent five seasons with the Panthers (2006-10) and three with the Arizona Cardinals (2011-13).

White joined the Bears in 2014 as a scouting assistant. He was an offensive lineman at Florida Atlantic University from 2007-10 then a recruiting assistant at Florida State University (2013-14).
