Softball: Weber's grand slam lifts Kaneland

Kaneland 13, Rochelle 2: Morgan Weber blasted a grand slam as the Knights (15-12) rolled to a Northern Illinois Big XII win.

Aly Jesionowski (2-for-4, 3 runs), Lexi Abruzzo (2-for-2, 3 runs), Meg Cohrs (2-for-2, 3 RBI), Hannah Theobald (2-for-3, 3 RBI) and Courtney Davis (2 hits) all had big days at the plate while Davis struck out 10 and allowed just 1 earned run in 5 innings.

South Elgin 13, West Chicago 0: South Elgin (14-14) scored 11 runs in the second inning on the way to an easy Upstate Eight Valley victory.

Paige Salamone threw a 3-hit, 5-inning shutout. Graceanne Aldred doubled twice and drove in 2 runs, and Stacy Bellack, Mariah Spivey and Bryn Warrick also had 2 hits.

Huntley 2, Jacobs 0: Sophomore Tiffany Giese pitched the Red Raiders (18-5, 7-0) to at least a share of the Fox Valley Conference Valley title. She held Jacobs to 5 hits and struck out seven.

Katie Armstrong pitched all 7 innings for Jacobs (8-10, 5-4) and didn't allow a walk. She struck out three, scattered 10 hits and gave up 1 earned run.

Armstrong, Katie Borchert, Jess Mrzlak, Teaghan Richman and Sarah Murray had hits for the Golden Eagles.

St. Charles North 10, Elgin 0: The North Stars (17-4, 12-3) made the most of their 6 hits in this Upstate Eight Conference River win, getting a double from Sam Hausl. Natalie Walters held the Maroons (6-20, 3-11) to 2 hits.

St. Charles East 9, Streamwood 1: Rylee Stout homered and drove in 2 runs, Katie Kolb and Delaney Devor both had 2 hits and scored 2 runs, and Paige Ligocki had 2 runs and 2 RBI for the Saints (24-4).

Jordan Hall pitched the first 3 innings and Delaney Devor the final 4.

Celena Feliciano doubled for Streamwood.

Ridgewood 2, Aurora Central Catholic 1: The Chargers (12-12) scored once in the second and held a 1-0 lead until Ridgewood scored twice in the bottom of the seventh.

Paige Miller took the loss despite not allowing an earned run. She struck out five.

Miller also doubled, scored the Chargers' only run and walked twice. Tressa Cwinski had Aurora Central's RBI.

CL South 3, Dundee-Crown 0: Sam Schettl went 3-for-3 for the Gators (11-9), while Kayla Sjodin had 3 hits and Madie Pautz the other base hit for the Chargers (14-16). Sydney Ruggles fanned seven in her 5 innings in the circle.

Glenbard South 12, St. Edward 0: The Green Wave (18-8) managed just 2 hits in the 6-inning loss, a double from Rachel Lesh and Lindsay Zdroik's single.

DeKalb 4, Cary-Grove 3: The Trojans (6-16) lost the nonconference game despite 2 hits from Brianne Prank, Emma Hill and Alyssa Gurgone.
