Issues are too serious for juvenile politics

What is going on in American politics? This may be one of the most important elections in recent times. At stake is the shape of the Supreme Court, which will affect decades of policy, the future of health care and Social Security.

In the race for president we have leading contenders using personal insults, lying Ted, small hands wink, no energy Jeb, Lucifer in the flesh etc. This seems more like a high school run for prom king not for the most powerful position in the world.

Imagine a future where the president comes out and calls the chancellor of Germany or the Russian premier names.

We have so many real issues that need addressing - the national debt, a regressive tax system that has enriched the top 1 percent while destroying the middle class, the future of Social Security and health care for young and old, terrorism both here and abroad, student debt, affordable education so American kids can take on the jobs of the future.

One party to this point has been discussing these issues. Hope is that they will not be drawn in to the juvenile antics of the other side.
