AAUW Spring Book, Perennial and Garage Sale opens Thursday

The Elgin Area Branch of the American Association of University Women will hold its Spring Book, Perennial and Garage Sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, May 12 to Saturday, May 14, at the corner of Wing and Worth streets in Elgin.

About 40 members usually contribute to this sale. Members typically contribute in excess of 1,500 gently read and some collectible books.

Items available at this year's garage and book sale include lots of books, healthy perennials, children's play sets, furniture, glassware, dinnerware, household items, clothing in many sizes, and more.

The profits from this sale will be used for the AAUW funds which gives scholarships to women seeking degrees.

The AAUW is an organization of college graduates, either four-year or two-year graduates, whose mission is to promote equity for all women and girls, lifelong education and positive societal change.

Membership in the Elgin Area AAUW is open to any person with a college or university degree. For information, call (630) 399-3159.
