Garden club to meet for volunteering, program

On Wednesday, May 18, the Pottawatomie Garden Club will meet at 9 a.m. at the St. Charles Municipal Building, 2 E. Main St., to plant in the gardens at the municipal building and along the Main Street bridge, across the Fox River.

It is a community service done each spring and fall.

The club's regular monthly meeting will be Monday, May 23.

Shawn Odneal of Root 66 Aquaponic Garden Shop in Brookfield will give a program on vertical gardens. The presentation will include a show-and-tell about hydroponic materials, example plants, and a small home garden system. a specialty retailer. "The Root" is a one-stop-shop for organic, hydroponic and aquaponic gardening supplies and services.

The club's biennial garden walk will be 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 9.

The walk, with the theme, "A Day in the Country," will feature six gardens. Proceeds support the scholarship fund.

Advance tickets are $15 or $20 at the door. Ticket " Group discounts are available.
